My main problem is not with the downloads but the forum itself. When I try to revisit a thread that I been before all that shows up is a white screen. This tends to make it hard to come back and use the links to download files.
One time I got this error on the screen:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 311296bytes) in/home/emulator/public_html/forums/includes/class_postbit.php(300) : eval()'d code on line 222
You may want to put the master lists and link on the main home page then the forum may help the problem a little.
