Try and install HL2 alone without any of the episodes. That might help. Or check if you got any patches to install with it.
I must urge you to ask your question with Steam Support even tho you don't like their service because they are paid to answer your questions. Have you checked their forum for this issue? |

This sounds like a graphics card issue or similar.
Have you tried swapping the graphics card (perhaps you have a friend or another computer you can temporarily take one out of)? If you have a wide selection of games, try playing them and see if it turns up in any of the other games. Other things to keep in mind or consider: 1) Have you overclocked your card? 2) Does this happen from a cold boot where the computer (including card) has not been powered on for some time? |
