Screw them all and get yourself a Linux distro.

For new linux users I recommend Ubuntu.

You can install Ubuntu as your primary operating system and use a vanilla Windows install for games (dual boot). This will allow you to keep your gaming operating system (Windows XP) fast and slim and have a far more functional and far more customizable operating system (Linux).

Example: http://dev.ep-dev.com/Screenshot.jpg (this is not running Ubuntu, but it is running the same software that Ubuntu offers).

Of course, there is a lot of customization in Linux (choosing desktops, window managers, icons, etc). For more examples of customization within the gnome desktop, take a look at http://www.gnome-look.org/

Well,

I'm rather impressed with the features that have been revealed about Windows 7. I think that it's good to see Microsoft take the family focus and visual focus of Vista and put it into an operating system that is pretty, functional and robust.

For now, however, I'm quite happy with my Windows XP box and, especially, my Mac.

Peace,

manaman
