Getting to work in MAC
Ok I got it up and running on my Mac, at least disc 1 for now. I assume disc 2 and 3 will be all good because they appear and have been burned in the same format with the same outcome. I am running OSX 10.4.11 on a powerbook G4 (non-intel). Here is the step-by-step instructions, forgive the long-windedness but there seems to be a lot of confusion here:
First, you will need a PC. Whether you have an old one lying around or you can call a friend and use theirs or one at work, you need a PC to do a lot of the functionalities to use PC programs to get the .imgs to disc. You will also need either an external hard drive (portable is helpful), or the PC has a DVD burner that you can put all this data onto after it's done, or some sort of online server where you can access data from both PC and MAC. On your MAC you'll need toast 7 titanium, either purchaseable or not-so-legally downloadable from limewire. Requires a passkey and I've heard they have text files of keys on limewire as well. 1) On the PC, make sure you have about 3GB available on a drive. Create 3 folders labeled FF7disc1, FF7disc2, FF7disc3. Download the 2 links on this forum for disc 1 into your disc1 folder (enter the 3 digit passcode on the megauploader page in the upper middle. when prompted where to save on megauploader, find your FF7disc1 folder). After you download the first one, wait roughly 10-15 minutes and you can download the 2nd piece, so one and so on till you have all 6 files downloaded. (megauploader keeps track of your IP address and only allows free users to download in timed increments). Again make sure Your FF7disc1 folder has "Final Fantasy VII CD1.part1.rar" and "Final Fantasy VII CD1.part2.rar", FF7disc2 folder has "FFVII Disk 2.7z.001" and "FFVII Disk 2.7z.002", and folder FF7disc3 has "FFVII Disk 3.7z.001" and FFVII Disk 3.7z.002" 2) Download 7zip (google to find a download). Install the program. 3) Open "7zFM.exe" (at least that's the program in the latest version) 4) navigate in 7zip to your disc1 folder, then shift+click to highlight both files. Hit extract. Type in the password on this forum's first page, the web address is the password. This will extract to a folder that says "cd1.part1" but infact the .img file inside is for both parts of CD1. 5) Extract disc2 and 3 in the same fashion - highlight both files and click extract, enter password. 6) now that you have the 3 CDs on .img files, the quickest way to get them to your mac is to load them from your PC onto an external harddrive, then unload these 3 unzipped folders onto your mac. worst case burn them onto data DVDs then unload on Mac. 7) Open Toast Titanium 7, select the "Copy" tab, then on the left hit the "Image File" option. locate the FF7disc1 cd.img file, and burn this .img to a regular CD (not DVD). Repeat for discs 1 and 2. You should now have replicas of the 3 FF7 discs. 8) the only Mac emulator that works for me is PCSX version 1.5 test 3. Google and download. Flarestorm does not appear to work. Again I'm running OSX 10.4.11 Non-intel. 9) locate and download the PSX BIOS file (again, not 100% legal to be in possession of on SONY's dime). google and locate. The one that's worked for people is SCPH1001.BIN which you then drag to: user>library>application support> pcsx (should be there) > Bios 10) Insert Disc 1 and you should be good to go! wow this was long. I've been trying to edit the post but it wont let me. .BIN file can also be named SCPH1000.zip Also, you can temporarily mount the .img file if you open toast 7 titanium, click "copy" then "image file," select the CD1.img file, mount, then "Run CD" from the PCSX Emulator without the physical CD in there. This should work for CD2 and 3. Always good to have a backup hardcopy though. Last edited by bjammerz : 01-10-2008 at 06:29 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Thank you for that(^_^). One final question I am borrowing my friends FFVII game discs (the actual disks for ps1) can I put them into my comp and play them through PCSX? I wont actually get the discs for another week or two. Just for those who don't know I have a mac and not a pc. MAC SUPREMACY!!

the password is the web address, make sure you put in every slash, every period.
Also, if it says "corrupt" you may want to try a different extracting program as they aren't corrupt. Or perhaps your download had problems. Last edited by bjammerz : 01-23-2008 at 02:31 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

UPDATE: For me, on a mac with PCSX the ROM was a little bug-y around the Gold Saucer. I entered the haunted house and tried to buy from the shop but the game crashed, and subsequently thereafter would crash any time I tried to open the menu, enter a battle, etc etc. It ruined my save states.
I luckily saved for real on the memory card through the menu about an hour previous, and was able to load from then and game back up to the gold saucer. I went right to wonder square for cait sith and then right to battle square, then made it out with no bug issues. Just as a recommendation, use save states, but also use traditional menu saves incase these bugs occur for you later throughout the game. Last edited by bjammerz : 01-28-2008 at 08:04 PM.
