Favourite RPG and why

Well the title is self explanatory, what is your most favourite RPG system? and why?
For myself I love MERP (MiddleEarth RolePlay) and it's not because of the LOTR movies... heck played MERP way before them. And not only because of the books, but entirely because you do have to leave it to chance sometimes when it comes to either surviving or not. Do a critical and you have to use what is called a criticial table and you might just be in luck and kill in one blow... or you might just be having a bad day and end up losing your weapon or breaking your arm. The system is well rounded and definately is fun to play if you have a GM that is on top of what a good story is.

Shadowrun is good too... but you should try being a demigod in Nephilim... talk about an awesome game too. Love it. You are a demigod that take over a human vessel (avatar) and then you can wreck havoc everywhere

I prefer Tales of Phantasia for snes. I have to say it's my favorite rpg of ALL TIME. Just the fighting system is good, but the story line and the whiole summons is awesome! :P You could should play it more!

I don't think he means RPG's as in video games, do you Lucullus?
More like card games and book RPG's and that kind of stuff I think, but I don't know anything about this as I never played that stuff much.

Yeah you are right... was referring to the various systems and for those that are not much into it all at least know one by name... Dungeons & Dragons But if you look deeper into this big pool called Roleplaying then you find all kind of worlds that you can explore. I did that a lot when I was in Denmark... me and a group of friends used to get together every weekend to some serious RPGing. Not to mention also talk about everything that has happened along the week.
Most places RPG is used a social gathering point for the youth too.

I used to play Warhammer too... but there is also a Warhammer RPG too with no tabletop
Also remember that they had one out that was called Manowar... used to play that too when it just came out... loved to paint the figurines
How about Star Wars, Vampire the masquerade and Werewolf?

I used to play D&D as well as Gods and Monsters...the pleasure of the game greatly depends on 2 things...the skill of the Dungeon Master...and the role of the dice ~.0

It also depends on the players
I had 10x more fun in a game all about killing a village so I can cross a ravine than I did any LOTR-rip-off game
