Soul_Caliber_USA_DC-DCISO Problem

Hi, I've been scouring the internet in search of how to make this game work.
Comes in 3 parts, I unrar and get 36 .001, .002 etc files. I am at a loss of what to do next. I have tried using hjsplit to combine them, and it works with no error messages, but the resulting single file seems to be completely useless. Can't mount in anything, renamed it to all image file types i could think of, tried extracting it using 7zip, nothing worked. If i test the file with 7zip i get an error message saying Data error in "dc-scus.cdi" file is broken. So i figured i would re-download all the original rar files and try again. Still nothing. If anyone has any tips, please help me out, i'd really like to enjoy this game soon. Thanks

Hey frosty,

This should be an easy one. Simply highlight all the files that are numbered sequentially as you pointed out (ie, .001, .002, .003) and then right click any one and choose to extract all with 7-Zip. Now you should have that file that is a CDI file. This is a file type that is associated with Dreamcast emulation. You will now need a Dreamcast emulator. I would suggest either nullDC or Chankast (the former is a newer emulator with plugins that work better on [dare I say it?] most machines). If you check out this thread, there are actually some good tips on setting up nullDC.

Good luck!

Thanks manaman, though when I try that I get the File is broken error in 7zip. I imagine somehow the download got corrupted, even though i downloaded it twice. I guess the next thing I will try is to download it on a seperate computer and transfer it over, hopefully that will work.
Yeah I am quite surprised at how well nullDC works, got it specifically to play gauntlet legends because I heard it could run it well, now just trying to set up soul calibur as its another favorite of mine.

Thanks,

frosty

Hmmm frosty,

It sounds like the file you're trying to download could have been uploaded incorrectly as well. . . . If you do try downloading it again, may I suggest using a download client other than IE or Firefox's built in one? Even Opera Browser's download client is far, far superior. If there is any error in the transfer, it will alert you--and believe me when you're talking about large transfers, that's a life saver.

Good luck!

Well, redownloaded with opera, no errors upon downloading. However still getting the same results. Noticed that when I test the archives using 7zip I get "Data error in encrypted file 'dciso-scus.026' Wrong password?" and "CRC failed in encrypted file 'dciso-scus.003' Wrong password?" for part 2 of the rar file. Part 3 rar file gives me this "Data error in encrypted file 'dciso-scus.003' Wrong password?" and part 1 gives me "There are no errors". Keep in mind that I am using the correct password (definitely) and I can successfully unrar them to the 36 .00# files, whereupon I can then combine said files into what "should" be a .cdi file, but the end result is a dud.

If anyone has recently downloaded this and it is working for them can they post please? Then I can try something else, but until then I think I am just going to dream about playing Soul Calibur while studying Biochemistry.

Cheers,

frosty

Hmm,

You're not getting this game from this site are you? Don't worry if you aren't, I'm just curious because I'd want to look at the original and see if I could help further. You can PM me the location if you'd like. Try "Extract Here" after highlighting all of the files and right clicking the first one to get to the option of "Extract Here." This should automatically combine them for you. I got the sense from your post that you were manually trying to combine them. . . .

Well, if this doesn't work, I'll check the original location for you--but it looks like Biochemistry may win out for a little while longer!

Peace,

manaman

Hi manaman,
Yeah I actually am getting it from this site, here is the link sorry I didn't post it to begin with. Not sure why it isn't working for me, if you are really bored feel free to download it and try to help me, but don't waste your time if you have more important things to do.

ww.emulatorworld.com/forums/sega-dreamcast/5703-dc-soul-calibur-ntsc-u-683-mb.html

Highlighted all of the separate .00# files, chose 7zip extract here, got a bunch of "File is broken" popping up all over the place. End .cdi file is 24 megs, which is really of no use to anyone. So I have to assume the file is broken somehow?

Couldn't post full link to webpage, but there it is.

cheers,

frosty

Yeah,

It sounds like the file is corrupt. Sorry about that, frosty! I guess that's one more from this site that was a dud for you!

Well, bummer!

Yeah, that happens, I'm sure someone will upload it again and I will grab it when I can.
Thanks for the quick replies manaman!

Frosty:

The proper working copy of this game is split into two files, one .ccd and one .cdi. Together they are 772 MB. These files can be found using any search engine, or P2P filesharing program. In order to play the game you need DAEMONtools and Chankast, just type it into your favorite search engine. I found my copy using Ares P2P. Keep in mind that this game is the intellectual property of Sega. It is illegal to download a copy of any Dreamcast game without owning the respective cartridge. If you click on enough links and type Soul Calibur into enough search boxes eventually it will turn up. Also it took me almost a month to get this game to run on my '05 notebook. Patience is a virtue grasshopper. Doesn't it piss you off that I can play this game anytime I want and you have to do a bunch of shit to get what you want? Well I worked hard and put a lot of research into this subject to develop my system. I am currently emulating 8 systems, formerly 9 but I deleted my Game Gear setup because it was a total waste of my time. I was able to set up Soul Calibur for Dreamcast starting with nothing but an internet connection and some technical support from this website, so I'm here to tell you, this can be done. But you are going to have to work for it. FLEET

Tutorial: Soul Calibur for Dreamcast

Hello,

This is CAP82-FLEETROYAL, here with a tutorial on how to set up a Dreamcast emulator for Windows XP. Before I begin, I should state that Soul Calibur is the only game I have ever gotten to work for this setup. Also, I had a little help from the technical support division of EmulatorWorld, but I mostly had to figure this one out from scratch, and it took me about a month. Also, I have a 2005 EMachines notebook, depending on your particular machine, you may have to alter the following instructions to better suit your PC. I don't even know the exact speed of my computer, but your PC has to be pretty fast to run this. Downloading or emulating this game is illegal without ownership of the actual, physical disc. Game owners are allowed one copy for archival purposes. Anyways, here is my personal setup. There are four components you will need to complete this setup.

_DAEMONTOOLS_ Google DAEMONtools. Download & install the latest version from their website.

_CHANKAST_ Google Chankast, and download the latest version from their website. I think the newest version is Alpha v.0.25.

_BIOS_ This is a necessary component to run the game. Two files are needed: dc_bios.bin & dc_flash.bin. Downloading these files is illegal without owning an actual Dreamcast console. Google is your friend...

The easy part is over... now for the hard part... you have to find the actual game. I will not e-mail or PM you the game, you must find this file for yourself. I have two tips for would-be searchers of this game: the working copy of the game is split into two files, one .cdi and one .ccd; the total size is 772 MB. I found my copy by searching Soul Calibur on Ares P2P... (you have to select "Software" under the search parameters)...

Once you have the correct files, place them in an easy-to-find folder, along with the BIOS files and all the files that come with the Chankast download. I recommend My Documents. After installing DAEMONtools you will notice a red lightning bolt icon on your taskbar next to the clock. Right click on the icon. At the top of the popup menu is Virtual CD/DVD-ROM. If you move your mouse pointer over this option a second menu will appear. Device 0 [F:] Empty, & Set number of devices. Make sure this option is set to 1. Now move the pointer over Device 0 [F:] Empty, and another menu will pop up saying Mount image. Select this option. Now browse to the folder where the Soul Calibur files are. Select the .cdi file. At this point your computer will read the game as an audio CD. Ignore this. You are now fully set up for DAEMONtools.

Now you have to configure your Chankast. Under the Options tab, select Configure Drive. Make sure that [F:] is highlighted, and click "OK". Under Configure Controls, enter the desired keys you want to use on your keyboard and type them into the corresponding boxes on the controller diagram. I have never used a joystick or gamepad so I'm not sure on how to set those up. Also, make sure Cable Type is set to NTSC. Now go to Run, and select Start. You should see the opening Dreamcast logo sequence at this time. However, the game will read as an audio CD. The solution to this involves the VMSbrowser. I can't remember how I originally set it up but all I did was mess with all the options on it and eventually I got it to work. Once you have the correct options selected under VMSbrowser, when you select Start, it should display the Dreamcast logo, followed by the SEGA logo and a screen that displays a sword and the words "Produced by NAMCO- The legend will never die! Soul Calibur for Dreamcast." You may have to select 50hz or 60 hz. I think 60hz provides better graphics.

This is a great game, with many secret moves, unlockable characters and special missions. Hours of enjoyment await you if you can mastermind this setup. If anybody has any questions concerning this tutorial, please reply to this post or e-mail me. I will try to address all issues to the best of my ability. I welcome any feedback on the clarity of the instructions contained in this tutorial. Also, if you don't get it to work right away, be patient. Many frustrated hours were spent compiling the necessary information to produce this tutorial. Good luck! ~CAP82-FLEETROYAL
