Hmmm,
So, I just booted up Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of Time (U) (V1.2) which is the GoodTools name of the version you cited. I'm running it in Project64 v1.6 with Jabo's Direct3D8 1.6 video plugin and am having no problems. All settings for me are default except I've disabled ABL (smoothes some games) and changed CF to 1 (also smoothes some games). These two alterations shouldn't have anything to do with what you're talking about and should only be used on faster machines. I suspect you're having a problem on the equipment menu as Link is rendered in 3D polygons on that screen while most of the menu is made up of 2D sprites. Though most tweaking garbles sprites and not polygons, I still have a though. Perhaps you should try reinstalling Project64 so that all the settings can be reset to their defaults. If you've done any tweaking, chances are something you've done has caused your problem. Project64 is a very solid emulator that really needs no tweaking unless you're trying high resolution packs or simply want to experiment with some different plugins. Otherwise, it's pretty solid without anything other than the basic setup. You may try this and see if it works. Just remember to back up any save data you may have. That would include EEP, FLA, MPK and SRA files as well as the save state files PJ, PJ0, PJ1, PJ2, etc. If you have some settings you wouldn't want to change and you know what you have altered from default, then perhaps you could give us a comprehensive list here as well as system specs. Does this work? Good luck, manaman |

I haven't done any tweaking and I was using the exact same version and plugins as you did. I uninstalled Project64 and reinstalled it and I still got the blank white square. I then tried downloading that same emulator from a few other sources with the same result. I even tried changing those options you described (disabling ABL and changing CF to 1). My system specs are: WinXP-Home, Nvidia GeForce 7900GS, 2gigs RAM, P4 CPU w/HT @ 3.0Ghz. I guess this just might be something that can't be fixed with me. Thank you for your time and help. I really appreciate it.

You're welcome EskimoSpy,
Perhaps you're right, but your specs make me suspicious because they're quite good and there shouldn't be any problems. I always recommend downloading emulators from the original site as that is where the most current and complete versions are. Project64 is releasing a new version sometime in the future, so be on the lookout for that. I would also suggest checking your ROM to make sure that it's a good version and not misnamed. GoodTools is wonderful. I highly recommend using GoodGUI as well. Using the utility, you will be able to scan your ROM's and see what their correct names are. Have fun and good luck! manaman |
