Help with DosBox

I just downloaded DosBox and a few games, Alone in the Dark 1 - 3. The first one works fine, but I can't get the music on in the second one and I can't get the music or sound in the third one. When I'm in the particular game's option menu it won't let me turn the music or sound on. I know that the emultaor has been installed and mounted properly and it's the newest version. I'm thinking it's probably something wrong with the games in particular. I'm still pretty new with emulators and roms and such so it's probably an easy fix from someone who knows what they're doing. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hey there EskimoSpy,

Well, unfortunately, DOSBox is not the easiest emulator to begin with, my friend. Unlike console emulators that only have to emulate one set of system specs, DOS emulation emulates the operating system that ran on very many different types of machines. I don't have the games you're talking about, but some games have configuration screens where you can input your "system specs." Most of the computer parts they reference are so antiquated you probably don't even remember what they are. Nevertheless, you may try switching them around based on your best guess. That occasionally works. Otherwise, I was trying to play Word Rescue (ah, memories. . . .) and I noticed that the second level's music wasn't working. I haven't been able to figure it out myself!

Such is life. Good luck,

manaman

Yea, I messed around with it and got the music working for AITD2, but AITD3 is still missing both the sound and music. Oh well, the first two were still fun (havent played either since the early 90's). Thanks again for your help manaman!!
